Direction of Light Matters

When it comes to supplemental lighting, placement and orientation of the fixture can have dramatic effects on results and day-to-day operations. Typical undercanopy lights for cannabis are positioned on the ground, directing light upwards and illuminating the underside of the leaves with limited photosynthetic gain. Other supplemental lighting fixtures are mounted horizontally within the crop but are suspended on wires or stands which can obstruct plant spacing and density, and also interfere during trimming and harvesting. PROXIMITY's side-lighting systems efficiently provide additional PPFD to the sides of the plants like late morning and afternoon sun with two levels of lightbars, each featuring dual overlapping low temperature LED boards. The result is up to 150% more lit canopy compared to toplight only with minimal interference to crop arrangement or maintenance.
